Today, my baby Patches had passed away. For they that don't know, Patches was my cat that my family had addopted when I was in eighth grade, and he was the best addition to my family we could have ever asked for.
Two weekends ago, my baby had come home with his right ear bleeding, and it looked almost as if he had been kicked in his temple. He could not hear, we could tell, for he never reacted to any of us when we called to him, and his ears did not even twitch to acknowlage us. On friday it seemed as though he regained some of his hearing, for if we'd turn the water on, he'd look over to the sink. But on sunday, he seemed to slow down entirely. He stayed in one spot, and wouldn't eat or drink.
I got home today, after buying canned cat food to try to get atleast something into his stomach and I found him under my computer desk. He was very limp and made a fuss when I picked him up and tried to feed him. That's when I noticed that his pupils were dialated (very large), even when I flashed light into his eyes. When they didn't react, i knew that there was nothing more we could do for him, because his brain was practicly dead. So I made my baby comfortable and continued to stroke his fur, knowing he didn't have much time left. Five minutes later he became incontinent (No control over urine or stool) and a minute later, his heart gave out and he took his last breath.
We burried him in the back yard not long after.
This is a sad day in the Winkler house, for we have just lossed a very lovable family member.....
